As I could do with one, I have no idea what to expect!

If anyone could point me in the direction of any such threads that would be great :)

DS joined a massive secondary knowing just one person in his year, a girl from his primary but DS doesn't talk to girls. But the school integrated everyone really well. They were all put into mixed ability tutor groups and these groups stayed together for all subjects throughout the school day for the first term. So he got to know everyone in the tutor group well. Then the school started mixed things up, they were setting for maths first, and then the following term for languages and science. But the tutor group remains important and he is still with them a lot, for English, humanities, music, art, etc. So even a massive school can integrate pupils well.

Can I ask are laptops necessary - I kind of have it in my head that they are but not so sure. She has mini ipad and access to laptops but not really one of her own.

DD is an August baby and young with it, but she will be getting bus from the end of the road into town arriving around 25mins before start of school (bus then goes onto other schools) any idea what they do in that time??? Can see it being a bit nerve racking first week

Is there another one of these on the go re prep for Sep that I am missing? Or can we use this?

simpson · 06/06/2016 23:26

Oh, can I join?

DS is 31st August (& tiny with it) & I am bricking it more than him I think Blush

Ooh Simpson it is so hard when they are so young isn't it! My dd is also young in the year and young for her age and quite small. We have chosen a school we hope will be as it good as it gets for her personality etc so we hope for a smooth transition and q speedy settling in! I am already trying to find others joining with her so it isn't all quite so new on day 1.....
