Honiton area secondary schools

We're hoping to move to the Honiton area very soon. Eldest son will be spoiled for choice for sixth forms (he's aiming for Exeter College), daughter is delighted with the thought of the village primary, but son no.2 will be starting secondary in September and...well, I'm a little worried. Honiton Community College doesn't have a great Ofsted or exam results. Can anyone out there help? The Kings school is obviously great but I'm guessing we'll be out of catchment...what about Cullumpton, Sidmouth or Ullfcombe? Do any local children go there? What do you all think of them? We're too late for 11+ even if I was sure he'd pass.

I have experience of two of those schools. One of my DC moved from HCC to Sidmouth and was happy there. A bus runs between the two towns so it was easy in practical terms too. There is also a small private school in Siddy which has quite a generous scholarship programme if that's your kind of thing!

Cullompton and Uffculme would be too far I think. What about Woodroffe school in Lyme Regis?

Hiya, I know this is an old thread but wondering Lady how your move went and where your son ended up? We're moving at the end of the school year in time to apply for secondary for DD who'll start in 2020 - looking at King's School but also wondering about Sidmouth. Would be great to hear how your experience went - hope it was a positive move for you all.
