Name and shame for absences Sixth Form

Apparently at DD's Sixth Form Assembly a PowerPoint slide of those with the worst attendance record was shown for all to see - including DD's name. All DDs absences have been due to MH issues and our GP has sent a letter. I have emailed the school asking if students with sick leave are included. DD was extremely upset as some days she has panic attacks and severe anxiety and literally cannot go to school. I am fuming about this - is this a thing nowadays?

We are sick of the attendance obsession in our kid's junior school. At the end of year prize-giving the head insists that everyone on 100% goes and shakes his hand. My wife wrote to the school recently asking why they think it is a good idea to stigmatise kids with poor health. My son failed the 100% one year only because he had to go to hospital following an injury at school!

But this is on another level altogether. Maybe one approach is to regard it as a badge of honour. I held the non-attendance record in my own sixth form. I took extra time off so I could study properly (with full support from mum and dad by the way) and rather think it helped me get the high grades I needed for Cambridge.
