Does anyone in Derby know anything about this school. Thinking of sending my child there in September. Would like to hear others reviews of the school!

Hi Summer, I live fairly close and my nephews both attended, is this your catchment school? I ask as there are a number of options in this area

Academically its ok but not the best and until recently had no sixth form if this is likely to be relevent

Realistically there is going to be a real push around on school places in this area of Derby for the next 2 years due to new houses and catchment boundary changes by another school that borders this school that may affect you

Hi, thanks for your reply. Our first choice would be Littleover community but we are just out of catchment and chances are slim of being offered a place.
i like the idea of Murray Park as it's quite a small school compared to others.

With the current system you can still put Littleover as first choice and Murray park as second without losing out if this is your catchment school
The places push may improve your chances depending on where you live as a certain school who's catchment runs down Radbourne Lane in Mackworth has increased its intake from this year by 30 due to the new housing estate which falls into Derbyshire LEA
This surplus could free up a few places along this corridor so freeing up places the otherside of catchment

Is that a primary school that has increased its intake year?

No Ecclesbourne have altered their boundary and upped their intake to 8 x 30 as the new estate being built on Radbourne Lane is in their catchment
As the new estate probably wont have 30 extra youngsters per year it will have a mild ripple effect where some youngsters out of catchment may pick up spare places which will leave odd ones empty in Woodlands and possibly murray park
The primary in Kirk Langley is picking up the extra younger ones I believe

Oh I see, that's interesting to know!

Some footy mates of DS2's go there and mostly are enthusiastic.

A friend taught there tho and was less keen. I think for most it would be a second choice after Littleover/Woodlands/Ecclesbourne (whichever of those they were nearest to!).

I would put down Littleover 1st and any others you fancy (Landau?) but make sure you do put Murray Park down on the form or you may get Sinfin (or whatever secondary has spaces)

Clary-yes thanks. I shall put down as second choice but think it's very likely that, that is the school we will get. As long as she is happy and the other children are nice to her that is my main concern. It's the same at any school I guess, you'll always get a mixture of kind and not so kind children.
