So, it was rainy and a bit foggy but there was a nice wind picking up a bit in the afternoon so DD and I spent her first day of freedom sailing and windsurfing. You don't notice drizzle if you're wet anyway. Grin It was great and we're both nicely physically knackered.

She looked at various peoples FB prom pictures this morning and didn't seem the least bit sorry she hadn't gone. Rather horrified by some of the heels! Horses for courses.

Shard11 · 21/06/2015 04:54

Anybody still have DC doing exams? DD has Italian tomorrow, but I think that may be the last?

Ashbeeee · 21/06/2015 08:31

shard no more exams here.

Am being really mean by making both DC get up early a) to do breakfast for their dad (fathers day) and b) making them go to a baptism of my mates baby. The last one we went to was high church and lasted 2 hours. Being godless heathens like their parents they are not impressed. Think they are going to enjoy it though as the vicar (a friend) is the campest man ever and hugely entertaining.

Happy Sunday everyone

Sparklingbrook · 21/06/2015 09:12

Hi all. More lovely pics Smile DS was out last night and all the talk was about getting part time jobs. But where to start? He's in a better mood but still slobbing around not doing a great deal.

poppym12 · 21/06/2015 09:36

Finished here too but I'm pretty sure some posters still have one or two left.

Ds out again last night too and I'm also wondering about finding some summer work sparkling. we live in a pretty rural area so there's not anywhere local for him to ask about jobs.

Sparklingbrook · 21/06/2015 09:38

We are rural ish poppy. So transport to non existent job needs to be doable. My friend suggested a moped. Gulp.

Horsemad · 21/06/2015 09:54

We're out in the sticks but I'll drive DS to a job if he gets one. There's no way he's going on a moped. Shock

We're not too far from a couple of villages where he might get a job so hopefully he'll get sorted.

Sparklingbrook · 21/06/2015 09:58

He's not 16 for a few weeks. He thinks that puts him at a disadvantage as all the jobs will be gone.

Horsemad · 21/06/2015 10:04

Well, lots of the 18yr olds will be (hopefully) leaving for Uni in September, so there may be some jobs available Sparkling.

He'll get something. Smile

dingit · 21/06/2015 10:08

Good luck to your dd shard. Sugar, your outing sounded fab.

Dd is hopefully getting a Saturday job at the local bakers in August, as another girl quits to go off to uni. It's a 7.30 start!

bigTillyMint · 21/06/2015 10:31

It's DT tomorrow - DD's friend is doing it. I think that's the last one. Good Luck to your DD Shard.

dingit, DD can beat that - she has a job looking after the little boy she babysits for - getting him up and taking him to school. She will start at 7amGrin Only for a week though!

Got DGodD arriving later - DD is going to meet her train as DH and I are going out with friends to the Music Festival in Hyde Park - Grace Jones and Chic, here we come!

poppym12 · 21/06/2015 11:01

no transport here either - but definitely no moped!!! the bus to town where he meets his friends is a 25minute walk from here. he rarely asks for a lift to the bus stop. however, he will also need to catch this bus to college...wonder if i'll be expected to give lifts then?

LineRunner · 21/06/2015 18:44

Shard good luck.

Ginandtonictime · 22/06/2015 06:54

Got a nice comfy seat in the finishers tent for your Shard, white wine or cocktail?

ErrolTheDragon · 22/06/2015 07:29

Good luck to those with DT, Italian or any of the other awkwardly late exams.

Just waiting for DD to come down to take her to the bus for the first of her two days as a pretend sixth former. She is expressing more trepidation at meeting new people than she did over exams.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 22/06/2015 07:54

Ahh, good luck to your dd Errol. We have induction days for sixth form tomorrow and Wednesday. I hadn't even thought that she'll be meeting new friends then, but am sure that's the case as she's always very welcoming to newbies and they take in quite a big cohort for sixth form (but fortunately are still fairly generous with offers for existing students so we're hopeful she'll be able to stay on)

She also has a leavers service at the Cathedral. Am planning on taking her along and watching them go in and come out but sneaking off with another Mum for tea and cake in nearby cafe in the interim. Does that sound like a plan? Brew Cake
We can go in for the service if we wish but the DC's have warned me against it! - they say it's slightly dull with lots of clapping required - dd says I should go to speech day in Y13 instead, when she has some results (it's held in the September) and will know where she's going next!

Also good luck today and this week to all the stragglers
Your choice of Italian ice-cream awaits you any day now Thanks

TheWordFactory · 22/06/2015 08:20

Good luck to any exam stragglers. It must be very hard to keep the faith at this late stage.

HSMMaCM · 22/06/2015 08:26

Good luck for exams. Blimey they have been going on forever! DD planning a morning in bed I think.

DS's prom over , he is allowed a week of loungng around, a few try days coming up and then a few days a week work lined up.

Shard11 · 22/06/2015 11:00

Thank you everybody. DD was not in a good mood today, she slept very badly. I am just waiting for the call to pick her up. She is having fellow Italian students round tonight - for pizza and pasta!

Ginandtonic - I'll have one of those please and thank you!

HSMMaCM · 22/06/2015 14:09

DD's at the orthodontist, hoping to get her braces off for prom.

MadAsgardian · 22/06/2015 14:18

DD has had a lovely end to school life. They do the Rock Challenge dance competition and on Saturday they qualified for the national final. She has been doing Rock Challenge for four years despite not being the strongest of dancers, she has worked like a trojan for GCSE dance and is one of only a handful who don't dance outside of school plus they have never qualified before.

She is so happy and excited it really wiped out all the stress she has been feeling.

Prom tomorrow.

SugarPlumTree · 22/06/2015 14:38

Good luck to those still going, hope they are OK.

Madas that is brilliant, a big well done to them. HSM fingers crossed for the braces, remember when DD's came off - the traispsing back and forth and tears were well worth it. Juggling, that sounds like an excellent plan.

Stick on bras are the order of the day here, then I think she has what she needs for Prom. Must get her to sort textbooks as they have to be back this week.

bigTillyMint · 22/06/2015 15:39

That's lovely Madas!

Fingers crossed for your DD HSM.

Juggling, Brew and Cake sounds greatWink

SugarPlum, I had to get DD tit-tape on SaturdayGrin

HSMMaCM · 22/06/2015 15:56

Btm I bought tit tape at the weekend, because I am concerned about DD's plunging neckline, even if she isn't Grin
