Thanks Errol. We'll going to grab some dinner now and hoping to get to Amsterdam tomorrow so hopefully will end on a good note Smile

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 20:49

SugarPlum that's pretty much what we have been doing. Sorry that your holiday is not relaxing :(
AIBU to forget to text MIL with the results for a couple of days?! Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 11/08/2015 20:55

Text her but expressing how well your DD has done whatever the results.

bigTillyMint · 11/08/2015 21:09

WitchAngry @ your MIL. How thoughtless.

ErrolEnvy at non-Kevin-like DD! Though DD has been 95% lovely this holiday, especially when meeting DHs old friends/family friends/out in public. 3 weeks en famille 24/7 is pretty full on!

SPT, hope you can switch off from worrying about the oldies and relax tooSmile

ono40 · 12/08/2015 14:29

SPT - sending hugs your way about FIL. We had that earlier in the year with MIL who had dementia. After removal of fluids she died a week later, pretty horrible time for us all really, especially as I had to have a breast biopsy in the middle of it all and was waiting for results. Good luck to your DD for tomorrow's A2s.

DS came back from Tanzania last week, spent the entire week seeing friends and I've just dropped him off at the airport as he is off on holiday with his cousins. I've almost forgotten what he looks like. Still, at least it means I am the only one who is nervous about next week! We haven't even had the "arrangements for what time to pick up results" conversation!

HSMMaCM · 12/08/2015 20:52

Good luck tomorrow A level people.

He's back!

SugarPlumTree · 12/08/2015 20:55

Thank you all. Not sure why he is suddenly back on foods but the same happened with MIL so not a bit surprise. DH coping very well in the circumstances. Ono I can't start to imagine what that was like for you Flowers

We made it to Amsterdam today and DD was in her element taking photos for her summer Art project. Never been before, it was very educational ..

Witch I'd be very tempted not to let her know too! Think Errol has hit the nail on the head as to how to handle her.

bigTillyMint · 12/08/2015 21:25

Yay AuntP! I have Ben following the photos on FB - he's a good looking lad, isn't he?Smile

SPT glad you had fun in Amsterdam - one of my favourite cities and where DD was conceived and a bonus to get stuff for the Art project. DD still has a load of compulsory homework for her first choice sixth form. And she has to get top grades tooConfused

SugarPlumTree · 12/08/2015 21:31

I didn't see you there AP, really pleased he's home Smile Saw a few Scouts around today and thought they were probably on their way home.

No pressure then BTM. It was a whole lot easier when they were in reception and we pranced around saying 'a a a ants' or whatever it was !

auntpetunia · 13/08/2015 07:30

Oh very jealous sugar I love Amsterdam, Holland is one of our favourite holiday destinations, short hop on M62 to Hull and an overnight ferry, we always take our bikes and just chill. Sorry to hear about FIL it's hard isn't it? Mums got dementia but fortunately since being in a local care home she's been really well.

BTM I couldn't possibly comment! GrinBlush after 3 weeks he was shattered but buzzing and stunk to high heaven after 28 hrs travelling , he's also gained a weird accent sort of northern but not scouse! I've got all his clothes already on the line this morning after a mega stain busting wash last night. He sensibly has chucked some of the older tshirts as theyd got wrecked. Am hoping to get more out of him today than yeah boss or nah crap !!! Though he took great pleasure in telling me he went on the 3rd highest wooden roller coaster in the world with his hoho family, and he went to the top of Tokyo sky tree and stood on the glass floor, both things I would have panicked about I don't like heights or edges.

Good luck any one with DC getting A level results today I'm sure a couple of people where going through double hell back in May and June.

bigTillyMint · 13/08/2015 08:45

Grin @ hoho family - is that a typo or are they called that?!

SugarPlumTree · 13/08/2015 08:45

DD said not a lot when she got back AP but it has come out in dribs and drabs since. Feel like we have a new member of the family, she is permantly attached to Skype ! It's certainly made her more confident and want to travel more.

She came in 4am for the wifi code which I wasn't best pleased about. This morning she said she had a 3am wobble when she realised it's only a week to results day as had thought it was 25th. She obviously hadn't spoken to her friend with the countdown app recently or she'd have known!

HSMMaCM · 13/08/2015 08:57

Just had an ad pop up for those with bad A level results. Fgs they haven't even collected them yet !

DD2 got into her first choice university. Smile

Now the countdown starts for DD3 and GCSE's. Stress....

Brilliant news little

BTM hoho is short for home from home!

SugarPlumTree · 13/08/2015 10:07

Excellent news Littleham, really pleased for you all Smile

TheWoollybacksWife · 13/08/2015 10:15

Loving the stories from DC in far flung places.

Congratulations to your DD2 Littleham

DD2 woke me in the early hours having a panic attack. It took a little while to get her calm - oh well, this times next week we'll all be out of our misery Grin

WitchofScots · 13/08/2015 11:32

MIL will get a text sometime that evening, so DD informs me Grin
She's got homework for her 6th form, some biology about DNA. She's got to do it and got to get in as she's only applied to one college as she didn't like any of the others, neither did I.

Georgethesecond · 13/08/2015 11:40

No one else with CIE GCSE results in today? To my surprise, DS has two A stars already!

GloriaSmud · 13/08/2015 11:53

Just checking back into this thread with one week to go. DD's been having a lazy few weeks since her exams finished. She started doing the homework last week for her A-level subjects (English Lang/Lit combined, Geography, History and Textiles.) I suggested she concentrates on one subject per week so some work is being done but it's still all fairly relaxed.

She's looking forward to getting her results. I'm the one that's got the nerves and I'm finding some nights I don't sleep very well (I've not confessed that to her though!)

motherstongue · 13/08/2015 13:55

yes George, My DS, much to his and our surprise this morning, got results for 3 of his IGCSEs. Happy to report 3 A* so were all happy today but still have the dread of waiting for the remainder next week.

HSMMaCM · 13/08/2015 14:24

Great news mothers tongue
