Non selective Herts/ N London independent?

My sister is currently looking at potential secondary options for my niece (currently in Y5). She knows about the various single sex selectives (NCLS, Haberdashers, St Albans High) but also wants to consider some less competitive options. She doesn't mind single sex or co ed.

All suggestions welcome, thanks

Abbotts Hill (only goes to 16 though) and Piper's Corner but that might be a bit far out. I wrote a post a couple of weeks ago about Piper's a couple of weeks ago which might be worth a read.

Queenswood in Brookmans Park is selective but not overly so. It is expensive though. Lots of day girls and some weekly boarding. St Martha's in Hadley, Barnet might be worth looking at. Princess Helena College in Hitchin is not very selective. Queenswood is the best of these in my opinion but the days are long and action packed.

Royal Masonic if she'll have trouble passing exams to most other schools. Aldenham too which tends to be almost at the bottom of the list in terms of A level results and fairy, easy to pass to get into (that is mixed sex).

Try the harder ones though - my girls were at Habs and NLCS and they really are lovely schools if you can get in.
