Just a courtesy note to thank you all for your messages of advice and support following the torture of being on a waiting list for a secondary school. Our learning from being Number 10 to get in to 240 places is that if you are within 10% of the places allocated you have a high chance due to the variables of those automatically chosen. Reasons include moving home, private education finance & selection, higher preference school, religion, special needs, change of heart to name but a few.We will be immediately informing our 2nd choice school so that a family going through what we have gone through can share the same joy we feel today by the release of a place for them.

I wouldn't say anything to the other school until lts guaranteed unless I am missing something.....

Whoa!! I don't think you should say anything to your second choice school until you have a written offer from your first choice. Just because in the past people in your current situation have got lucky is absolutely no guarantee the same thing will happen to you.,

I agree until you have a piece of paper offering you in writing the place, do nothing.

So are you in? Or are you 10th on the waiting list??

Remember children can jump in front of you in the queue.....

OP started at 10 on the waiting list, and has now been offered a place.

I would make sure I had the offer in writing and accept it. Then turn down the other offer.
