I'm a weeny bit cross that there hasn't been a SW/W London Independent schools thread this yr.

Every blinking year there is one - and I read, and nod, and note. Sometimes they go on for months and pages. But this year, when I'm actually doing it - pah, not a sausage.

If anyone wants to do a last minute SPGS/Latymer/Godolphin/ KGS/LEH/WHS/PHS thread, please do! (disclaimer - I'm not doing all of those.). But views welcome. Because I've got several days to form my final views Smile

I know it's ridiculous isn't it. Fortunately we're in London over half term so I'm not having to have someone go to our house to check the post.

I'm really hoping that neither the interviews nor the heads' reports are crucial since neither are going to be great for him. Oh well.

castlesintheair · 30/01/2015 12:33

wheresthebeach, I'd love to put together a book like that. Am meant to be writing a novel but procrastination appears to be my middle name currently. Sigh.

theintrepidfox · 30/01/2015 15:00

Hi everyone, DD also has the Latymer interview on Sat. If the music scholarship audition is anything to judge by, they were super-friendly and relaxed.

Good luck!!!!!

Emo76 · 30/01/2015 15:12

which schools start posting results next week? I have forgotten to note down!

AnotherNewt · 30/01/2015 15:14

I think the GDST schools all post on 2 February. Dulwich foundation schools on 12th.

KingscoteStaff · 30/01/2015 16:18

We're done! DD has just finished JAGS sports assessment!

Going home to burn the Bond books and that massive pile of past papers.

castlesintheair · 30/01/2015 16:27

WHS post their results letters on Monday 2nd Feb. Gulp.

mertonmama · 30/01/2015 16:44

Castles - how did the WHS Skype interview go? I can't imagine how they'd do it.

castlesintheair · 30/01/2015 17:12

It went well thanks but was just a 10 minute chat, no comprehension bit, can't think how that would work anyway on Skype. I suspect it is a sign of impending doom which is a shame as it's DD's birthday on Monday and it would be nice to have some good news. I'll just have to tell her the day after Grin

DarkBlueEyes · 30/01/2015 17:30

Putney High post on the 3rd. I have had a little bit of good news this week. The registrar of SHS rang me this afternoon after I had emailed her on Monday, to tell me that DD is number TWO on the waiting list!

She said that the numbers this year were extraordinary, and last year, and every other year DD would have received an outright offer but they are being cautious at this stage due to numbers. She also said that she would be very surprised if it didn't turn into an offer. So all of you on the waiting lists I hope this offers you comfort. I certainly feel SO much better. She was so positive about how well DD had done and how well she would fit at the school and how I need have no concerns about her being at the bottom of the class.

Lovely lady. I just want to shout and scream now!

She also said, though obviously the highly intelligent mumsnetters on this thread had already clocked it, that it seems that there are far more children sitting for more schools which is really going to play havoc with their systems.

Beingfrank · 30/01/2015 17:59

Great news, darkblueeyes, very positive!

Chillaxalready · 30/01/2015 18:13

That's a great position to be on a waiting list and your Dd will almost certainly get a place - of all those girls who sit 6+ schools there are bound to be some who will choose elsewhere!!

ealingwestmum · 30/01/2015 18:26

What a lovely piece of reassuring news darkblueeyes!

mertonmama · 30/01/2015 18:56

Dark blue - great news! I know of several girls sitting on SHS offers who may well go elsewhere if other offers come in next week. That waiting list will definitely move. Lovely registrar to give you the info.

LostInTheShuffle · 30/01/2015 19:12

Wonderful news, DarkBlueEyes. Congratulations to you and your DD.

castlesintheair · 30/01/2015 19:28

That is very reassuring DarkBlueeyes and in the words of my 13 year old "You're in there!". How lovely of the Registrar to call you. I know schools don't have to bother now but little touches like that really make a difference imo.

wheresthebeach · 30/01/2015 20:09

How fab. That's great. Won't be long now I bet!

Interesting what she said about numbers...expect lots of movement.

wheresthebeach · 30/01/2015 20:48

Also so nice that she reassured you about how well she's done. I bet there's very little difference between a lot of the girls who get offers, and those on the wait list. Just a variation on the day.

Needmoresleep · 31/01/2015 09:09

DarkBlueEyes, well done to you and your daughter. It sounds as if you will hear something positive by the deadline for acceptances.

Time to go out and buy paint!

You can now come back in following years and offer reassurance!

wheresthebeach · 31/01/2015 12:32

We've had good news this morning. Offer from St Catherine's. And breath....

amidaiwish · 31/01/2015 13:24

Smile for the good news!

wheresthebeach · 31/01/2015 14:24

Thank you Smile. Fingers crossed for everyone else!

DarkBlueEyes · 31/01/2015 14:36

Wheresthebeach that is fab news. U.S. Too, though I nearly had a heart attack when I saw a small envelope on the floor. The big one was hidden behind the door!

I a so happy and relieved. Hope good news all round. Xxxx

SonorousBip · 31/01/2015 16:05

Dd had her last interview today so we are completely finished. She can be a bit of a drama llama, but has been really calm and focussed throughout and we have been really pleased with her about her approach. Obv might get a bit wibbly when results come out, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Anecdotally, have heard that lots of people did not get offers at Surbiton who usually would be predicted to. It's a common destination from dds school and another close by school and I know from her class and from someone with a mate at the other school that there are swathes of girls on the waiting lists this year, seems like fewer with actual places at this stage.

wheresthebeach · 31/01/2015 17:30

Oh Dark that's wonderful!! So pleased for you.

Our playground very quiet on the subject of Surbiton so think it's similar around us. SonorousBip - Good luck for your DD; hope its not too long a wait.
