What size hockey bag?

DD will be doing hockey this term at school. She plays hockey out of school and has the smallest size stick bag. I think she needs a bigger hockey bag to take to school, so she won't lose kit, but how big? I don't want to have to buy again in the years to come. Thank you.

DS2 (Y8) plays hockey twice a week at school and doesn't have a hockey bag; I didn't realise he needed one. He puts his hockey kit into his school rucksack and then carries his hockey stick in his hand. Please can you do some links of the sort of thing you mean; he has a birthday coming up so I'll ask him if it would be useful.

That's interesting. Perhaps she's okay just having the stick bag.

Does she have a locker? If so, what size is it? That might affect your choice.

When DD1 did hockey at secondary they supplied the sticks. So all she needed was usual PE kit plus shin pads.

My kids play a lot of hockey. At least three tines a week-and sometimes three games in one day!! They both usually carry huge bags! One bonus to this is that the school blazer doesn't arrive home in quite such a crumpled mess!! DD20 also has a hockey rucksack which she uses occasionally-it's a rucksack with a stick holder on the outside.

Sticks are such an odd shape, she might be better off just having a stick bag big enough for the stick and then a standard shape bag for everything else.

DS has a webbing loop with a clip on his rucksack so he can put it through everything else he's carrying on and can't possibly leave anything on the bus / put it down and forget it.

My DS does hockey at school and after school and just carries his hockey stick in the bag it came in, then his kit in a usual sports bag. The bag it came in is just a drawstring kind of thing with straps and you can wear the stick cross ways on yr back and pretend you are a Jedi Knight

Thanks everyone. Her locker's big enough for a stick. I think I'm best off sticking with what we have until DD says she needs something different.

My son was a keen hockey player and started with a small bag then moved to a larger bag he could fit 2 sticks and all his kit in. Most of his friends did the same.
The disadvantage of this was his tendency to put used kit in the bottom of the bag and forget about it....
