DS is only in year 3 so I'm probably thinking about this prematurely, but anyway.
If his personality continues to develop as it currently is, I think grammar school would be his best bet.
He's a bit of a geek, bookish and very keen to learn. He's in top groups for everything and those (faintly ridiculous) "G&T" words tend to be spoken about him. He also happens to be quite little, and I worry about him getting bullied at the big (slightly rough, I'm told) local comp.
So, how do I give him the best chance at getting into a grammar? Am I right that it's pretty tough in Brum? If your child's in a Birmingham grammar, how did your child prepare (honestly)? Do I have to start thinking about it now? I can't afford a tutor, but could download resources and do extra work with him if that's what people do. But I have no idea where to start. At the moment, we do nothing academic outside school at all (although he picks out lots of fiction and fact books at the library and reads them himself).
Many thanks in advance.
