Uniform question for Watford Grammar School for Girls.

DD2 starts at WGGS In September and we bought her uniform yesterday.
She is a very different body shape to DD1 and does not get on with the regulation trousers. She has some sensory issues and they are too fitted for her. She doesn't really like skirts either although we have bought her some as she has to wear something!
DD1 fits the trousers but has only warn hers twice as she says they are very low rise.
Does anyone know if there are any acceptable trouser alternatives sold by M & S or other places?

Can she wear a skirt until you can speak to the school?

FiveHoursSleep · 31/07/2014 16:21

Yes, she can/ will but I'm sure there are some MNers with older girls at this school.

Have a look at the John Lewis website under Watford Girls Grammar general uniform. They list trousers for the school that might be better, if your DD doesn't like them fitted. The only review describes them as being generous fit. I hope that helps.

When I last looked round, there were girls wearing ordinary navy smart school trousers.

Thanks for the heads up re John Lewis. We used BEAT to buy ours but JL do have cheaper alternatives including some trousers that might suit DD2.

I think we may need to remortgage the house after outfitting two girls in two year!

Hi FiveHoursSleep. Do you mind me asking how much uniform you've bought? I've got a dd starting at Parmiter's so no trousers allowed but so far I've only got 1 skirt, 1 pack of 2 short sleeved blouses, 1 jumper & 1 blazer. I'm assuming we're going to need at least another pack of blouses, short/long sleeved, but don't know whether to get another skirt & jumper. Also, do you know what style of school shoes are considered acceptable by 11year old girls?!

FiveHoursSleep · 02/08/2014 13:21

For DD1 we bought 4 shirts, 2 skirts and 1 pair of trousers ( which were only worn twice), 2 jumpers and 1 blazer.
DD1 has had this style from Clarks.

Thanks FiveHoursSleep, thats helpful.
I've bought another pack of blouses & will take her to get another skirt. I like those brogues but she had the same pair last year & destroyed the backs by being lazy..she flattened them & wore them like mules Hmm If she wants another pair she'll be buying them! I imagine velcro straps will be a no-no so was wondering about loafers...seeing lots in the shops & they take me back to when I started secondary school 35 years ago!

I only have boys at secondary so far, but they have:
1 blazer
2 ties (for when they lose one)
2 pairs trousers
4 shirts
Plus one of each thing in the PE/games kit.

I have used both Beat and Stevensons and have found them both fine.

FiveHoursSleep · 02/08/2014 20:59

These are the other shoes DD1 has had this year.
