Turing House for Udney Park Road after all?

Just seen this: felixonline.co.uk/news/4720/sport-imperial-to-suspend-sporting-activities-at-teddington/ and wondered if it might be good news for Turing House. Wasn't it one of the sites they were rumoured to be looking at?

I'd love to see a school on this under-used sportsground because it would open the facilities up to the wider local community. Might be a bit of a battle with the neighbours though.

Nah, it's huge! Look at it on Google maps. It's bigger than Teddington School's footprint and they manage to provide community sports facilities ok.

Lots of fingers being crossed at my DCs school that this site is still an option for Turing House - anyone know if that's still an option? Now the paper version of the Rich & Twick times says the alternative site is in Whitton!!! Why would they put it there when there's a perfectly good site in Teddington?

Agree that this would be a great site. Friends with Y7's were gutted it didn't open last year on this site. All feels a little late in the day though, don't offers go out in a few weeks?

I know a lot of Y6's who've applied, and Y5's who are watching and waiting. There are rumours of bulge classes being shoehorned into Twickenham or Hampton Academy if it doesn't open this year, so people are getting twitchy.

So many of us are hoping Turing House gets this site. We've all waited for so so long for the school to find a site and as a result know that prime sites like this are very rare, it's such a great opportunity, I've got everything crossed!

I don't think this announcement makes much difference - we've known for some time that Imperial were thinking of selling. However, there is a very credible bid in from a group who want to keep the ground available for community use, and it really wouldn't be a good site for a school: Udney Park Road certainly couldn't take the traffic.

The suggested Whitton site is near Twickenham Academy and the Amiga sports ground.

The children ought to be able to get buses to Udney Park Rd as Teddngton served well for buses so traffic should not be an issue, there should not be much more. My boy certainly wants to get there under his own steam.
