Today's Edexcel GCSE maths... How did it go for your DC?

Higher tier here..... DD came home thinking it was ok, felt she'd nailed a C possibly a B (she finds maths difficult)but over this afternoon finding she's got lots wrong.how did it go for your DCs (specifically Edexcel higher )

My DD is pretty good at Maths and is predicted an A but she thinks there is no chance after today- one of the questions involving Grain and a cylinder and cone shape she said was the sort of question where you would usually need a calculator. There are a lot of news reports saying teens are all complaining about it and suggesting it's their fault for not being prepared. My DD has worked like crazy for the last two weeks on her maths ( at least 4 hours a day and extra tuition from DH who has a maths degree) so I really resent the implication that she hasn't worked hard enough. Bloody tabloids! Suppose we can just hope for lower grade boundaries or for the calculator paper on Monday to be a little more straight forward.

Purple, this is a zombie thread started last year! We've been discussing this a bit on the current gcse support thread if you want to come on over.

(I've not read the reports you mention, but I wonder just how well anyone sneering at our poor hardworking teenagers would have done with it.)
