Received our dd1's yr7 progress report the other day & it tell's u what grade they have & what grade they are working toward @ the end of the year. She did her sats in yr6 but it didn't bear any relevance in yr 7 because they did their own progress test in the first few weeks in September.
She is doing brilliantly so far. Not looking forward 2 options in yr9. We had enough trouble with ds1 trying 2 decide. Confused

She sings & will be taking Grade 4 soon. she also plays piano to a basic level but keeps it up to help with her composition.

Composition & aural is a big strength of hers & I believe that's a large part of school music (her singing teacher did aural tests up to Grade 6 with her). She composes using Sibelius software whereas her classmates are using GarageBand.

In my daughter's class they all use Sibelius but when my DD1 was there 8 years ago only the ones who read music did and the rest used something else. This thread has made me realise that I need to sort out theory lessons in readiness for GCSE and for going past grade 5.
