Grammar School Appeal tomorrow!!!

Hi
My youngest daughter's appeal hearing is tomorrow and i am now fretting about it. After reading i feel i am very unprepared for it. So i was just wondering if you have any tips!
Passed her NV and V with flying colours but her maths let her down. Her SATs results are level 5 and 6 as she has worked so hard this year.
What sort of questions are the panel going to ask? What should we be asking?
Thank you

Assuming the grammar school has a pass mark you need to show why she failed on maths and convince the panel that she is of grammar school quality. If you cannot show some reason why your daughter did not perform at her best on the day of the test the panel is unlikely to accept that she is of the required standard.

It is impossible to predict exactly what the panel will ask but, in broad terms, they will be making sure they understand your case. If there is anything that is unclear to them they will ask about that. They will explore the strengths and weaknesses of your case. But there won't be any trick questions. They aren't trying to trip you up.

When you get to question the school's representative you should be looking for weaknesses in their case. Without knowing more it is impossible to give detailed advice but, for example, if they are saying that they are full so they can't take your daughter even if she is of the required standard it is worth finding out if they have been over PAN in previous years. If they have it indicates that they can probably cope if they go over again.

HI
thank you for your reply. I have spoken to the school (eldest goes there so they know us!) Invicta Grammar for Girls. they are oversubscribed this year but they have added a new building and the more appeals the better for them so they can add a new class. Due to illness her attendance wasn't excellent but all this has been sorted and has excelled in all areas.

If you haven't already provided evidence of her expected SATs levels at least take in her most recent report.

I know in our LEA the panel's main fear is setting up a child to fail if they are not GS material.
One thing that springs to mind is that VR and NVR are supposedly tests of potential ie the child's intelligence, whereas maths is about attainment which as well as innate numeracy , is affected by a range of external factors,eg how good her teacher is, whether she has had her education disrupted through illness.
