Yes, if they have previously gone over PAN that is helpful as it suggests they can cope with additional pupils without too many problems.

sham80 · 01/04/2014 10:45

prh shall i print out and take it at the appeal day or post it a have already filled appeal form and sent it .shall i take it on the day and i got police crime reference of break ins which has affected him. and the allocated places pan etc that i printed not got the council logo at top doesnt look formal its just a list of schools and what year etc

In the appeal you will be able to ask the LA's representative some questions. I would ask them to confirm the school has been over PAN in 2013 and 2011 (plus any other years where you know they have been over PAN). When they confirm this I would say something like, "So they are used to coping with more than 255 pupils in year 7".

You will receive something from the clerk to the appeal giving you details of the hearing. This should tell you how to submit any additional documentary evidence you want to send in. You should always submit any documentary evidence before the hearing. If you introduce new documents in the hearing the appeal may be adjourned to a later date so that the panel and the LA's representative can digest the new evidence.

tiggy what about primary schools can they help

OP posts:
prh47bridge · 02/04/2014 22:17

Some primary schools are unwilling to help. If they are willing to do so tiggy's comments regarding a letter from a tutor would apply equally to a letter from a primary school.

sham80 · 03/04/2014 10:56

prh what can the letter state prh so a can tell the tutor and adress it to who and shall i have a word with school to a only want to send these letters if it helps appeal

OP posts:
prh47bridge · 03/04/2014 12:45

Tiggy has advised what the tutor could say - that they have noticed a change in your son's level of confidence and that in their opinion this means your son needs to go to the appeal school. Address it "to whom it may concern" or to you - it doesn't really matter. They don't send the letter to the appeal. You do that.

sham80 · 03/04/2014 15:53

prh thanks a had a word with primary teacher and she said they dont like to get involved etc .and the school am appealing for gives great help to low attainers and help close the gap with peers etc that is what my boy needs because he just catched up and had help at school does this help and how can i put this point across and that he loves sport and this school big on that .

OP posts:
prh47bridge · 03/04/2014 16:15

Yes, this all helps. On the sport question there isn't really anything you can do other than raise it as a point in your appeal case. You can raise the support for low attainers in the same way. If there is anything on their website about this support I would copy it into your appeal. Make it clear that you are quoting from their website.

sham80 · 03/04/2014 19:46

prh much appreciated a got it from there prospectus think a will print it a also manage to print 2011 and 2013 there final pan and they final allocation of 261 pupils

hi can anyone answer this my appeal date is may 2nd and it said on letter a would recieve some paperwork regarding appeal by recorded delivery in 10 school days i havent recieved anything a was waiting for that so a could submit my further supporting paperwork

OP posts:
LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 18/04/2014 17:59

I think the paperwork is sent out 10 days before the appeal, not 10 days from the letter you got.

They are all at least 30 in Surrey! They may though be taught in classes smaller than 30 (eg. DT and Science and PE).

sham80 · 25/04/2014 09:36

hi can someone pls get back to me urgently a just picked up supporting gp letter to me the second paragraph wording not right and i need to submit paperwork today it says. my son is a patient barlow medical he unfortunately has witnessed break in in his house leading to flash backs. hyper anxiety and behaviour avoidance.this has lead him to struggling with getting on a bus.the prospect of going to new school where he has to get a bus is causing the child significant anxiety and limits his function. His mother has requested my support in asking you to place him at school where he will have support of his primary school friends but also where she can drop him off .he is currently being refered to the child and adolescent mental health team where he will receive therapy .therefore i would like to support his mother in the request that he is placed at a school where his friends are and she can drop him off. WHAT YOU THINK OFF LETTER

OP posts:
Zingy123 · 25/04/2014 09:49

I think the doctor has to say in my opinion... Not the mother has asked me.

prh47bridge · 25/04/2014 10:17

From the wording of this letter an appeal panel is likely to conclude that the GP is repeating your views rather than expressing a professional opinion. It would be much more helpful for you if it said, "In my opinion he needs to be placed at a school where he will have...".

sham80 · 25/04/2014 10:23

is the first paragraph ok so instead of saying his mother has requested my support in asking in asking you to place him at school where he will have support etc etc can you pls tell me which bit needs to change with what wording pls so a can ring em now
