Catchment for Watford Girls Grammar

We're considering a move to Watford and I'm trying to work out where it would be sensible to buy.

As a WGGS old girl I'd love my daughter to attend if it suits her, but as she's only 2 at the moment, that's a shot in the dark! But from my reading of the admissions arrangements a decent proportion of entrants come in on distance, so I thought if we bought near enough, we would have it as an option when the time came. But the furthest offer distance for last year is under 500m. Coming from London, stupidly tiny catchments are nothing new, but I can't see HOW there are so many girls so close to the school given that it's not in a particularly residential part of town. Am I missing something? The houses I've been looking at are about 0.6 miles away which I thought would do it!

ThreeBee- do you have a boy at WGSB then? Is he enjoying it? We have a boy ( only in Y1 now) who we are hoping to take advantage of the sibling rule for. ( as well as a couple of girls)

Boy in Y9: was very happy in Y7 & Y8, but since beginning of Y9 has lost motivation in the subjects he doesn't want to continue to GCSE. I think this is more related to his age than a problem with the teaching.

Boy in Y7: loves it, is happier and more settled than he was at primary, he says it's "not really like school, more like an interesting holiday club." Grin

I have been extremely impressed with the school, especially with the quality of the teaching and the pastoral care.

FWIW we feel the same with the Girls' Grammar. The teaching seems to be very good, DD1 is progressing very well and the pastoral care is excellent. Any worries I've had have been addressed immediately.
However DD1 is a model student, Keen to learn and follow the rule.
It will be interesting to see how they manage DD2...
