Surbiton High School?

Hello, my DD has just been offered a place in Y7 from Sept 2014. We really didn't expect her to be offered a place (due to the extremely high demand) so haven't really looked at it seriously until now. Looking on MN I see that many of the opinions expressed are a little dated, are there any members who have DDs there at the moment? I was a little concerned to read the post regarding the current head, but having seen her at the school think that this opinion must have changed? Any up to date views good or bad would be really appreciated. Many thanks!

I know a lot of parents who have been very happy with St Cs and a couple who were not, one was in a year that took in a refugee or two who bought with them the values that they had encountered elsewhere rather than absorbing the values you find at St C as their parents presumably hoped. It is obviously a lot smaller than Surbiton, fewer sports etc opportunities. It's results are not as good as Surbiton but they do enable the bright girls to get A/A*s so I'm not sure I would consider that as a particular factor. Rather will your daughter respond to the smaller, nurturing but also quite strict ethos, or might she find it a bit stifling? On the other hand Isleworth to Surbiton is going to be a horrendous commute, nearest bus goes from Tower Road in Strawberry Hill? and even more so if she is sporty and travelling to and from Hinchley Wood. And Surbiton is the other extreme as far as size is concerned with 6 form entry.

Sorry to re-open an old thread but I wondered if anyone had any thoughts about Notre Dame? My dd is still v young but her cousin is about to start the junior school there. Yesterday I met someone who told me she wasn't happy academically with Notre Dame and is planning to move their daughter. My dsister and her husband just thought the balance of pastoral and academic at ND seemed suitable for their daughter.

I've met people who are very happy with the senior school. But I couldn't comment about the prep. It might be best to start a new thread specifically about the prep or senior depending on where your niece is going.
