Admission to coloma convent

This might seem like a silly question but do you have to be Catholic to go to a Catholic school. Coloma states that they accept all children regardless of their faith but I know first preference would go to those who are Catholic of practising Catholic. We are church of England but really like coloma and live 1.59 miles away from the school. My daughter is only nearly 3 but like to think ahead as have already decided she will go to a good church of England school near to where we live
Has anyone had any experience with this

why dont you look on their entry criteria?

You stand no chance getting into Coloma unless admissions drastically change.

Very difficult to get into, if you're not practicing Catholic then very little chance I'm afraid. It's very over subscribed. I went there waay back in the mid 90s and was v difficult to get into then (they interviewed too -don't think they're allowed to do that anymore thank goodness!) so likely to still be difficult to get into in 8 years time. Best bet would be to send your daughter to a Catholic primary if you can and convert to Catholicism (if you're already C of E it's not v different so wouldn't be hypocritical!). It was a great school when I went, teachers treated us with so much respect and it was a lovely environment (of course didn't appreciate it at time!) with great music and sports facilities.

Two years ago long term practising Catholics who served as altar girls every month and had been baptised within weeks of birth and completed their first holy communion did not get an offer. The place is almost impossible to get into even if you ARE Catholic. Sorry.

There are a lot of Catholics in Croydon and the surrounding areas. Always have been. Hence the number of Catholic schools.

They cannot refuse to admit non-Catholics but they can prioritise Catholic children. Baptised Catholic children would be in admissions category 2 whereas your child would be in category 6. I can't find any data on admissions in previous years but, as others have said, I would regard this school as a long shot.

Thanks for all your comments. I guess I will have to look into other schools. I did want to send my daughter to a single sex school although do not mind co-ed. Living in new Addington, there is not much good schools around expecially with the catchment areas of schools getting smaller and smaller
