Epsom College 2015 - waiting list

Just wondered if anyone has had a child on the waiting list who has now been offered a place? My DD is on the list and we have been told that she is likely to get a place, but the waiting is driving me mad!

I am surprised, they seem to always have places there...

Hmm mikulkin, not sure where your info comes from, but as one whose DS sat for Epsom for 2015 entry along with a lot of his classmates, they do not offer places to all who rock up to the door!

DS was offered a place, but plenty of others in his school were waitlisted. He is at a local well-regarded prep.

Your comment was not helpful to the OP and sounded rather sniffy to me.

Absolut, afraid I don't know how the waiting list is going but in your place I would ring the school for info, they will be glad to help. Staff will be in and out of the office during the holidays and will pick up messages.

Good luck to your DD, hope a place comes up for her.

Thanks for a useful reply OGP, glad there are some pleasant people around!
Lots of DD's peers didn't get offered a place, so we were relieved that she was on the waiting list.
I rang just as term ended and sent a copy of DD's report, hoping we might hear in September.

I didn't mean to be sniffy, but now that I re-read the post, it did sound so :( sorry and good luck to your DD

Don't forget (If their system hasn't changed) that there will be boys who've provisionally accepted a place who will sit Reeds in September/Oct - once those offers are out you will see movement. Plus there will be those who sit on places for Epsom/St. Johns and others and will wait a while before deciding. I know a boy who only just got off the waiting list for a day place for 2014 a couple of months ago. The boarding places seemed to come up quicker last year. Epsom is a great school and, with the pressure on London day schools, is much sought after. I think it used to be easier to get in to because of less pressure (which ii what mikulkin meant I think) - but then they all did!! Good luck with it all!

Thank you, havinganightmare, that is exactly what I meant! We just finished with the whole pre-testing and provisional acceptance of places process and I am (funnily enough much more than DS :)) still shocked at the pressure London schools put on the whole family!

But of course my comment wasn't really helpful...
