All Girls School

DD off to an all girls (state GS) in September and as the time is getting closer was wanting to hear from anyone who may have experiences of an all girls environment for their DD.

She's my pfb so am worrying about every little thing! She's in a mixed primary and used to having the boys around and yet is more than happy to go on to an all girls school too. I guess as her parent am worrying that the 'bitchiness' may be more rife? Do they mix well with boys out of school socially? Do they still do the 'fashion' 'make up' thing even when no boys around?

I know there are pros and cons to everything- including single gender education but having no personal experience of it myself would really value people's opinions.

My dd and her own group of friend, yr 9 all girls state grammar, don't wear make up, do like boys do like all the usual stuff, have no issues at school with bitchiness

Sme of the other girls are always falling out, smothered in make up, desperate for male attention, act like tarty things on the bus

No different to the local high school. Your dd will be who she is wherever. My dd sounds similar, she's a square and a rule follower!

With the amount of self harm teenagers are exposed to now, they see it as easier not to react and just take it in there stride, when in fact it horrifies them.

mutteroo, I agree on the boys can be bitchy too comment.
DD is 2nd year at uni and has found some of the boys in her halls were so incredibly bitchy - but got away with it as boys don't bitch they apparently just 'speak the truth' which is apparently ok! I think they have grown up a bit now, but still maturity wise are definitely behind the girls.
