best secondry schools in milton keynes ?

we have decided to move to Milton Keynes as it was my dream to live there but now i'm going crazy in hunting for good secondary schools with five good GCSEs ,including maths and English. Please if anyone here can advice me so that i can start looking for properties in that area as we have to move in the summer holidays, i would really appreciate

Best regarded schools imo are (in no particular order)
Walton High (south east)

Oakgrove (south east)

Shenley Brook End (west)

Hazeley (west)

Denbigh (west)

Ousedale (split campus, Newport Pagnell and N MK)

Depending on the age of your children you might want to check the availability of places - all of these tend to be oversubscribed. The LEA website has lots of information on which schools were oversubscribed last year.

Some of these also have specialisms - if your DC have particular strengths you may want to check them out.

I agree with the above schools. Milton Keynes pupils can also apply to the local Bucks Grammar Schools.

I second (third?) that list, but depending on the age of your children you need to look at the primaries. All of the secondary schools have their own admission criteria and mostly these give priority to partner primaries.

My advice would be to move as close as possible to your favoured school and/or make sure you can get a place at a partner primary. Denbigh, for example gives priority to out-of-catchment children at partner primaries ahead of children in catchment that are not at a partner primary.

Generally considered as best avoided are Milton Keynes Academy and Leon. Radcliffe, Lord Grey and Stantonbury are rather mixed, not terrible but have their issues. St Pauls is good but catholic so not much use if you're not.

If you have any children that are already secondary age it's highly unlikely you'll get a place at one of the top 6 mentioned above, at least initially. In that case I would recommend looking for houses as close as possible to one of the good schools, then you will be at the top of the waiting list for in-year admissions as and when a place becomes available. Try to go for a place at Radcliffe, Lord Grey or Stantonbury while you wait it out, they usually have space and as discussed are not too bad.

PS nobody from MK seems to get in to the Buckingham grammar school, the Royal Latin anymore, if you were interested in grammars it would be Aylesbury you'd need to go for, a good 45 minute drive from MK.

My family will move to MK. Is that possible to go grammar school from MK?

MK is comprehensive only. The Grammars are in Buckinghamshire. To be certain of a grammar school place, if your child passes the 11+, move to Buckinghamshire, not MK. For example, Buckingham, Wing, Aylesbury, Waddesdon all have access to grammar schools.

We live in MK. Our son goes to one of the grammar schools in Aylesbury. Long bus journey but worth it! Their results are fantastic. Lots of children commute to the three Aylesbury based grammars from MK.
