6th form entrance exams

Does anybody know Critical Thinking/reasoning skills entrance exam to 6th form look like? I asked at opening evenings, but the most I got is they are not multiple choice. I understand that all of them should be different, but would be really grateful for any example.

The only 6th form entry rxams I;ve come across are for private schools. And typically written exams in a choice of 2 subjects from the 4 applied for at AS.

Not only private schools have entrance exams. Our closest grammar also has NVR test for external 6th formers. "N" is easy to imagine, "V" should be a short essay or answering question after reading, but what may be for "R"?

There are AS/A2 in Critical Thinking - I would presume that the entrance test was something like the A Level. A quick google implies that it is something along the lines of a comprehension test and 'can you construct a for/against debate'.

If you are going for the Grammar then google NVR: there will be reams of stuff out there. It's about pattern recognition. It's one of those tests where you have to get into their mindset, and scores improve with practise.

Both types of test question the more grown-up concept of whether you can manage data and make your own sense of it (as opposed to GCSE, which are a test of whether you can remember spoon-fed data).
