am looking to move and considering blackheath but i don't live anywhere near at the mo so difficult to go to open evenigns for secondaries. Has anyone got any inside info. looks like thomas tallis will be nearest followed by john roan or riverston. DD is in y5 and likes sport, art and drama particularly but is generally able at all subjects, driven and bit of a head girl type though not the best academically. dd2 is two years younger and likes music, bit cleverer though also lazy. would like a school that suits both. what do you think of these three schools if you live nearby?
Thanks

Blackheath is in the borough of Lewisham which has a shortage of secondary school places. Thomas Tallis is routinely oversubscribed, but so are all the schools there. We are looking at Prendergast Hilly Fields for DD which is a girl's school, but has a music and science emphasis which I think would suit her. I would avoid St Matthews Academy simply on the basis of their student's behaviour which is routinely commented on by the bus travelling public. DH went to Addey and Stanhope and did quite well, but this was in, as DD points out, 'the olden days'.

If you are moving to Blackheath it might be worth exploring Greenwich borough as an option too.

For DD2's primary school, I strongly recommend trying to get into John Ball which has a headmaster who puts a lot of emphasis on music and drama for all.

thanks a lot. dh decided the house Id found is too small. Will keep an eye on the area though as it is one of 3 or 4 which suit our needs although top price bracket for us. will have a look at greenwich too. thanks for the tip.
