My daughter has previously been in state education throughout her life and is now 14 years old. However with a move on the cards we need to get her into a school in Leeds or the surrounding area, we are looking at independent schools in particular Wakefield Girls High School or The Grammar School at Leeds, she doesnt like Harrogate Ladies College and is looking for an all round academic but sporty school with lots to do and get involved in, having come form a very large school of just over 1000 pupils size isnt an issue. Although as ive looked around, the reviews on both GSAL and WGHS have been very mixed! Is there anyone with a child at either of the schools or that knows anything about them and could help me?!

My cousin went to WGHS. She loved it, came out with straight A GCSEs (no A* then).

I know a few activities are shared with a boys school, things like the exchange trips.

Have you considered Bradford girls grammar. Could be a bugger to get to because of traffic though! There's also the mixed silcoats in Wakefield as well.
Think they all have good reputations.

Friend's DD is at WGHS and loves it. GSAL seems too big for my liking and loads more boys that girls. Have you thought about Bradford Grammar? It's supposed to be very sporty.

Or there's Woodhouse Grove? Great sporting facilities there too.

Have you decided where you're moving to?
