Started a new school yesterday-Homework due in tomorrow

DS1 started his new High School yesterday. He is (for now) in top set for maths, this may not be where he should be, it probably isn't.

He has been given an A4 sheet of homework. They have been studying the concept over the last few weeks apparently. DS1 has never heard of it.

What shall I do?

I'd see if he can make an attempt using Google because I'd often find university assignments had been C+P'd from other unis by my lecturers and write a note explaining for the Maths teacher, asking if he can have some notes so he can work through it slowly and properly at the weekend to catch up.

Thanks. I was thinking along the Google line as well Charmingly. I think it would be good if he could at least have a go. I am sure he won't be expected to grasp it after one lesson.

Sorry ds never settled at you know where. It's shame (not to say inconvenient r.e. travel!). Hope he gets on much better in the new place.

Oh sassy we tried we really did. Academically he was doing brilliantly but he just didn't settle with everything else unfortunately. He is a sensitive soul.

I have managed to get him onto the bus so that's good, but the whole morning is very different.

No advice re homework, except google and a note to explain.

My dd has to get up earlier now for her new school but she soon got used to a new routine.

Yes, it does all feel a bit odd now Tantrums, I will get used to it no doubt.

I think the bus will help him integrate, and they have vertical tutoring which will also help. He will realise the big kids aren't as scary as he thinks hopefully.

I think it's really nice, they all mingle in together, it's good.

Fingers crossed. The old school is v big and impersonal and can feel a bit rough at times in corridors tbh. Hoping the new place suits better

Ds1 is in year 8 top set maths. He might know?

It's 'Construction and Loci', unfortunately it's angles, protractors and compasses so not easy to explain, or answer on here. But thanks.

sassy I think he found that, but a lot of children just get on with it don't they? He seems very aware of his surroundings, and worries a lot.

No, that's great bigbluebus. The homework has been attempted but he could work through that to get a bit more practice.

I am going to attach a note to the homework to say he had a go, but he isn't familiar with it at all.
