I looked at his timetable PE every day sometimes twice, it's a kind of condensed course over one year.

I'm thinking he'll need a dedicated pair of trainers for school, an extra tracksuit and new football boots of course.

Is there anything I haven't thought of?

Also he only likes football really, but has never played for a team or anything... [frets]

Some of the lessons will be theory lessons, so don't panic into buying loads more kit. Just send his normal PE and I'm sure he'll be told which activity he is going to be doing, and therefore which extra items he may need - like football boots/shinpads etc.

DD is starting GCSE PE in September. On her course (not a short one) they do lots of different sports and are marked for each. I think they do one lesson of theory a week and each sport is a 6 week block with marking / assessment at the end. DD does a LOT of sport already so has school trainers and at least 3 tops, I wasn't intending buying more kit unless asked.

My DS has just finished his GCSE PE. They do a huge variety of sports and pick their best four for the exam. He did, among others, athletics, badminton, rugby, football, cycling (the school provided bikes as most children live long distances from school) , Gym, rounders, basketball.
If they do something outside school that the school don't do it's possible to use that as well.
Kit is just PE kit no point getting anything special unless the school tells you to. Ours did a special PE hoody for the GCSE students.
