...Would love any tips from other HoDs who've recently been inspected - they're coming this week and it's my first inspection as HoD. I'm Head of English so as a core subject leader I will be individually interviewed by them, joy of joys...I know I need to know my data inside out, but if anyone has any advice or can think of things that they were asked by inspectors, I would be very grateful! Thanks!

Ok. They asked for:

-the department handbook (including the policies)
-all student tracking information
-all the past lesson observations with feedback
-information about moderation and internal book checks with information about the feedback given to teachers
-the SEF (or its modern equivalent)
-PM information
-SOW/SOL

This is from a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks, that's really helpful (although am now bricking it as there isn't a dept handbook - better get writing that then...) When you say tracking info, do you mean the available data used for intervention or something else? Everything else on that list I've got, I think.

I suggest preparing some case studies ie examples of where, through tracking, you identified a pupil or group who were not performing as expected, what interventions were put in place and the impact of these interventions.
