I'm hyperventilating on behalf of DS1.... who had one wobble the day before he went back to school but is now irritatingly calm. I am dragging him kicking and screaming through his revision books. We have had lots of eye-rolling, tutting, surreptitious looking at the laptop, attempts to distract me with the Flight of Conchord DVDs.... but we've finished Biology! Hurrah! Exam on Thursday

Just chemistry and physics now..... Hmm

It's a bloody nightmare. I avoided science as much as possible at school and just scraped a C in biology. At least it makes DS feel better - he does at least know more than me.

Anyone else ?

We've got Additional Science Higher C4, P4 and B4 Unit 1 next week! WTF does that mean?

I'm guessing, that since she's in yr11 and she's done her coursework, we're nearly there! Grin

English yesterday. Looking good she says. She did a re-sit for RE on Monday too, because she sat it early and only got a C. Hmm Only? Surely, we could have put that one to bed to consentrate on something else?

In amongst all these, she's doing her mocks too! She had another RE today! Plan is, they have a mock results day too, just like it'll be on 23rd August.

It's going to be a long 33 weeks until then and given I am emotionally charged for my own yr11's at school and I'm not sure I'm gonna make it, let alone DD!

BellaVita · 11/01/2012 23:02

DS1 (yr10) is also sitting his science exam to tomorrow.

He is now on his third seat Hmm. Brought home his statement of entry before exams. Last week given a new one as his seat position has changed. Tonight, the exams officer phones and says she has moved him as he was near the door and another pupil needs to be placed there.

I have tried to test him... He says he knows everything... He has revised he says... He just gets all stroppy with me... WE WILL SEE!!!

BellaVita · 11/01/2012 23:03

Before xmas

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/01/2012 23:07

dd has her biology tomorrow....year 10. i am so glad its not just my dd who is a stroppy mare when i ask her about revision etc...

i have had to phone school to get exam timetable etc as DD has kept most of it from me....

am now on the ball though much to her annoyance!

BellaVita · 11/01/2012 23:14

Vicar, DS1's planner comes with the exams listed in it

I asked him if he had all the right equipment tonight to be met with a yes mum... BUT sometimes at my school I help out with invigilating and the amount of pupils that turn up sans pens, rulers, pencils etc and you are constantly running back and forth getting items for them.

TheFallenMadonna · 11/01/2012 23:21

Our year 10 do their first Science exam tomorrow. Worth 35%, but remember Science is a 1 year GCSE.

Year 9s are definitely going to linear.

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/01/2012 23:47

why is it that teens have to sit exams! its the one time of their life when they are the least interested! mine is driving me mad with the heaving and sighing and the "yesssss mum" whenever i ask anything....

DH sat and did her history homework with her tonight and she looked about as disinterested as could be....i would love it if all i had to do was learn about the bloody league of nations or why the atomic bomb was dropped but nooooooo....i actually wonder sometimes why she chose it!

youth is wasted on the young. fact.

BellaVita · 12/01/2012 06:08

DS1 was going for history and then at the very last minute he changed his mind and chose science instead.

OrmIrian · 12/01/2012 10:41

Well he'll be out now. Wonder how he's feeling.

I would say he was quietly confident this morning. I would say that but sadly I think it was more like lack of interest Hmm

I can't decide whether or not to text ds...

ThatVikRinA22 · 12/01/2012 14:57

DD text me to say it was awful....oh dear. Sad

Hullygully · 12/01/2012 15:11

oh no. DS texted it wasn't too bad. Probs to stop me fretting...

BellaVita · 12/01/2012 15:31

This morning when I left for work I suggested that DS txt me on finishing the exam... Cue huge sigh and a "sure mum". Anyway he did and said it went well Hmm that comment is definitely to stop me fretting!

magentadreamer · 12/01/2012 15:33

DD did OCR GCSe Biology today, she did texted after it but to tell me how she'd done in her Maths - They got the first module result today. I was so thrilled for her I forgot to ask how Biology went oops Blush

BellaVita · 12/01/2012 15:36

Magenta, DS got his maths result too!

OrmIrian · 12/01/2012 15:38

No-one answering the phone at home and I know DS's mobile is on the floor under his bed out of charge Hmm

DH home soon and he's promised to call me asap.

I didn't know they actually got their module results back. Oh lord....

OP posts:
BellaVita · 12/01/2012 15:41

Orm, did he not tell you his mark from June? The November module was a resit.

magentadreamer · 12/01/2012 15:45

DD's Maths wasn't a resit. They do the first two modules in yr10 and the last one at the end of yr11.

dottygamekeeper · 12/01/2012 15:45

My Yr 10 and Yr 9 both sat Biology today - I was invigilating same exam elsewhere, and thought paper wasn't too bad at all, but am waiting for them to come home and give their verdicts. Yr 10 should have had his first Maths module result today too. So glad Biology is over, but now we have Physics and Chemistry to look forward to next week...the Yr 10 is obsessively revising all the time, the Yr 9 appears to be doing absolutely no revision at all (but assures me she does know it all!) At least after next week we have a bit of a break until the next set of exams.

OrmIrian · 12/01/2012 15:47

??? Oh good lord.

Now I am really confused. We only has a GCSE consultation meeting right at the end of yr 9. I wasn't aware he had done any maths - only English.

FFS! The old way was simpler...

Hullygully · 12/01/2012 15:47

what board dotty?

PatTheHammer · 12/01/2012 15:47

Orm- is he doing AQA?
I had a look at the paper today and I though it looked alright, no nasty surprises. My Year 10's all thought it went ok although they looked nervous as hell this morning, poor loves.
LOTS of writing though, I was in the exam hall when the exam finished and two-thirds of them were still madly scribbling. Hardly seems fair on them when last years cohort had the multiple choice and loads of them used to finish with 15 minutes to spare. I hope all your DC's have been prepared properly for the longer written questions.

OrmIrian · 12/01/2012 15:47

Ah thanks magenta - perhaps I'm not going mad....

OP posts:
Hullygully · 12/01/2012 15:48

He might not have done, Orm.

At my ds' school, only the top set do maths early.

muddywindydales · 12/01/2012 15:48

DS2 (y10) has Bio/chem/phys. exam today.

Had Maths before Christmas ( gets results today) and has Geog. next week.

He's spending most of his time after school at revision clubs at the moment!Grin
