Hi - are there any Canford mums who could help me? I can't believe I am having to ask this given my son is FOUR but on the application form it asks you to choose what house you want them in. My instinct was to leave it blank since we have not a clue but dh freaked me out by saying if we do that he will get put in the least popular one! Any ideas on what to do? Thank you so much.

I'm curious to know why you're registering a four year old. There are very few senior schools where you need to register that early off the top of my head I can only think of Radley. I don't see how you can tell if Canford is right for a four yr old. Also lots could change in the school over 9 years the most likely being change of head. Sorry using sons lap top and keep knocking wrong key. As I was saying the housemaster is the most important person and it's unlikely that he'll still be doing the job in 9 yrs time. Wait till much nearer the time; the school will advise you when to look. I would also save my money and register in four or five years time then you will know what sort of child you DS is and what sort off school your looking for.

I generally agree with happygardening but if you go ahead now I'd recommend Montacute. You can always change it later.

Grovel - are you happy with Canford? We actually made the decision just to send the blooming form in with no house in the end!
