We will be moving to Cambridgeshire from Ireland next year, I have a few questions regarding the education system. My son is 13, in Ireland this puts him in second year of secondary school ( we have 8 years in primary) and I am wondering where this will put him in the UK system especially with regards to the exam cycle? Any advice on this would be appreciated. Also can anyone recommend any good secondary schools pref. catholic within catchment of Stamford?
Many thanks

At age 13 he would normally be year 9 so 2 years into secondary ( start in year 7) and normally choosing options for GCSE year.Year 9 is the end of KS3 so there are SATs exams.
Not sure regarding Stamford schools but Stamford itself is lovely. The main secondary school is Queen Eleanors and there are separate secondary girls and boys private day schools in the town.Goggle ofsted reports to give you an idea. I don't know of any catholic schools in the area local to this.Peterborough the city nearest here in Cambridgeshire has a highly regarded secondary ,Kings school, but this is C of E.
