Son applying for Musical Aptitude Test for Owens. Does anyone know what school is like for Music and has anyone have child there who passed MAT.

I have two kids there. Sadly neither is musical, although I was as a child - hugely so.

Music at DAOS is extraordinarily good. No idea how they do it, even given the fact that they admit 10 kids on musical aptitude each year.
Choirs, orchestras, concert bands, close harmony groups - deliver outstanding performances, year in year out.
2013 was the 400th anniversary of the school and they held a celebration concert at the Royal Albert Hall which, famously, doesn't do school concerts. The quality of most of the performances was near professional.
They've won their category at the Eisteddfod a few times, proving that it's not just a biased parent's view!

I know this thread is ancient, but for any other children with musical talent, the music department at Dame Alice Owen is simply superb, one of the best in a school setting.
