Mixed school for girls? Distance to secondary

Really undecided. I would like a mixed as walking distance (Bishop Thomas Grant South London). Daughter would like Ursline or Coloma both of which are an hour at least commute each way. Such a difficult decision and only have a week to decide!

Coloma is well worth the distance and so many girls travel to the school so she wouldn't be the odd one out and may well end up making friends who live close to you. My daughter is in year 9 at Coloma and we had the same dilema but could not be happier with a school than we are with Coloma it is such a wonderful loving, nurturing positive environment. It really is all you could dream of in a genuine catholic school.

Seen this as an old thread - my dd starting secondary 2013 so thinking about schools now - she is at a catholic primary school - the girls either go to coloma or st phils in sutton (boys john fisher). Any advice on the two schools or any other? coloma is closest but st phils not too difficult to get to (2 buses). advice greatly appreciated!?

AngelEyes46 If Coloma is closest then I'd say that it was a no brainer. I went to Coloma (back in the day) and my best friend's daughters are now at school there (I wish mine were but I live very far away now.) She says it's even better than it was in our day, and in our day it was by far the best school in Croydon (including the indies). But my 'no brainer' comment is purely predicated on the transport. I know the buses have got worse since my day and even in my day, 2 buses to St Phils would have been a nightmare trek, especially if that involved going round the pond.

Thanks Thetasigmamum - i also went to coloma but many, many moons ago. DD's preferred choice is St phils but that's cos her bf wants to go there - bf lives on the doorstep of st phils. as far as i'm concerned both schools are great and i wd be pleased with either. have looked at the ofsted results and coloma slightly better. sports/drama/art facilities generally the same. i like the old building at st phils - not too sure about the uniform.
has anyone else been in this dilemma - would welcome any advice/feedback!
