Online Admissions form & catchment area confusion

For the reasons for selecting school - do I tick the social box and put that her friends are going there? Or is it best to leave it blank. Will that make it look like I'm not that bothered in terms of my preference? (I most definitely am!) My kid attends a primary school in the catchment area of our preferred choice of secondary school, but the closest local primary to us, which isn't the one we attend, is linked to a different secondary school. Do authorities go by primary school catchment, or where you live? I'm a little confused :(

I imagine it varies from LA to LA - have you read through the guidance information on your council's website?

Where we live, there are no feeder schools as such - which primary a child goes to has no bearing on which secondary school they're allocated.

The reasons you give have absolutely no bearing on the admissions process unless you can show that your child should be in a higher admissions category. Wanting to be with her friends won't make any difference.

For the second question you need to look at the information published by your local authority. That will tell you how they decide which children are admitted to each school.
