Secondary schools in Merton Area

Hi, just wondered if anyone can give me any feedback (positive or otherwise) on the following secondary schools recommended by DS's Headteacher: Dunraven (Streatham), Glenthorne, Overton Grange, Greenshawe and Cheam High School. We are also looking down the selective route but need some good comprehensives as back-up!

The only one I know of is Dunraven, but I'd be amazed if you got in from Merton - there's a very wide geographical spread there - do you have a realistic prospect of getting into any of them on catchment?

Well the Head of DS's school suggested it so I am assuming she has her finger vaguely on the pulse!

you will need to live within about 1km of the Sutton schools you've listed to stand a chance of getting in based on this years catchments, unless you're going for an ability place, sorry.

Not necessarily as Greenshawe has a grammar intake doesn't it....I'm beginning to think that there isn't really any choice at all....

that's why I said, unless you go for an ability place Smile You can sit an entrance exam for Greenshaw, Cheam High you can get in on ability for tennis and Glenthorne on ability in performing arts.

Yes, DS has a friend who is gifted at tennis so have tipped him off about Cheam High....
