well i feel that my son has no choices but the one school we dont want wich is single sex!!! the ones we did want were a mixed scool and a catholic school! i only put 2 choices as i refused to put the one we dont want and also because i know if i would of put it thats what we would have got...have now received a letter from the mixed school saying that his chance of getting a place in there school may have been affected due to me not live in the catchment really dont know what to do...SORRY RANT OVER

Too late now but I would have advised you to use all your choices. You always get offered a place at your highest choice with a place available. Putting the school you didn't want down as your third choice would not have made any difference to your chances of getting in to your first two choices. If you don't get a place at either of these schools you will be offered place at the nearest school with places available.

If you really didn't want this school your best strategy would have been to name an unpopular school that you found acceptable as your third choice. As it is there is nothing you can do now until you've been offered a place. If that turns out to be at the school you don't want you can ask the LA which schools have places available and see if any of them are acceptable.
