Anyone with their DS at AGS?

I would love to hear their experiences, especially coming from the state sector.

Am bumping this for you. A few leave my son's prep school each year for AGS. Very popular, very high standards from what little I know.

Obviously you have to get through the 11+. Our school won't prepare the pupils for this and I believe state primaries aren't permitted to, so I guess many tutor privately (either coaching at home or external tutors). A friend has just appealed unsuccessfully for a place - quite traumatic for all concerned but clearly many believe well worth it.

I have a daughter at the girls grammar school next door- Aylesbury High school. Most do come from state primary schools, but there are a fair few from prep schools. I don't know anyone who got in without either practice papers at home or paid tutoring, as the familiarisation papers they do at school don't provide enough practice to answer the questions quickly enough. The 11+ in Bucks is verbal reasoning only and you need to score about 90% to pass. My daughter has friends from out of county, from as far away as Milton Keynes and Thame. The schools are separate but they do mix with the boys on the bus, and there are disco's and productions involving both.
