Hampton / LEH - after state primary?

Is it possible to get to Hampton School or Lady Eleanor Hollis (at 11) from a state primary school, or do you basically need to have been in an private (& academic) prep school beforehand.

Is there any chance (assuming DS & DD bright enough) of a scholarship, from a state primary?

State primary in question would be Cleves Junior School, Weybridge.

I'd always really liked the sound of Hampton & LEH, but private school fees all they way through has never been an option. We might be able to manage it from 11 though, for the right school.

Any thoughts welcome.

I cannot think of one child that I know who has NOT been tutored in preperation for the 10+ and 11+. A great many have been successful and have come from state primaries. In recent years, word on the local grapevine is, that the standards are getting higher. The reason being given is that families who would have considered boarding schools as shifting to day schools due to reduced finances Hmm. This may be a load of old baloney but it would certainly seem true that academic standards are much higher than even just a few years ago.

Certainly at both the schools DS2 sat for this year we were told that the standards were unusually high, but I got the feeling they say that every year....
