Ds1 came home today and mentioned he'd done well in some tests,
he said he got 7's? in maths and science.
Can anyone enlighten me? thanks

Nat curric levels.
General rule of thumb they should gain 2 levels between yr6 and yr9.
So if they get L5 in yr6 they should get L7 by the end of yr9.

What year is he in? If he's in yr7, these are fantastic results. (Pretty good scores for yr9 actually).

He's in year 8, I find it really confusing, I must read up on it all Blush
It was lovely seeing him so happy and pleased with himself today.

They are great results for yr8. Superb. Well done him.

As a rough guideline, if they get L5 by the end of yr9 they should be able to get a grade C at GCSE in yr11 (if they continue to work hard and make great progress). L7 should convert to an A grade and L8 to an A*.

So if he's getting L7s in yr8 he should be aiming for the moon! Grin

Ah thanks roisin that is lovely to know,
he is getting much more confident since being at secondary school,

I think failing the grammar test and going to a mixed comp is so much better for him.

He doesn't do well under pressure and I think the more nurturing approach has really helped.

Dd1 Starts secondary next year, so will get more clued up on it all, I'll be an expert by the time dc5 goes Smile
