Can anyone comment on Glasgow Caledonian Uni? Went to the open day yesterday and DS quite liked it. Only went on a whim as it initially wasn’t a serious contender, but now very much is. We saw the accommodation, It looked pretty dated but I guess standard for its ilk. Keen to hear about the social/mixing side as well as academically. Liked the campus feel. Commuting isn’t an option. Thanks for any insights.

We were at the Open Day yesterday too. The course my DD is interested in gave a good talk. My daughter keen on the city centre campus. We didn't see any accommodation. Don't know anyone who goes there but for Allied Health professions its one of 3 options in Scotland so DD limited to that.

I haven't done a GCU open day, but I have been to a conference there three years running, using the same rooms, towards the rear of the Annie Lennox building. This year, the deterioration of the building was noticeable. Leaks and peeling in many seminar rooms. Made me question how bad the finances are if basic maintenance is being neglected, even for the high paying corporate summer clients.

Used to work there. The amount of students who don’t live at home isn’t huge, so limited opportunities to make friends etc.

two of my kids have gone/are there - it's been great for them.
Both lived/live at home and commute in however, so not sure re accommodation.
Both enjoyed their courses, and my eldest had a job lined up in his field before graduation (from a placement during his course). My other child is currently in their 2nd year, and absolutely loves their course.
good support for students. staff are on strike I think just now, but that's not unusual across the whole sector right now.
