I'm trying to arrange a holiday with my DD and GSs.

They live in Ireland and will get the ferry across to Cairnryan. GSs are 9, 5 and 4.

Where would be a good place to book a holiday cottage? Preferably near a beach and with places to visit to entertain the boys.
And preferably within two hours by car from the ferry terminal.

TIA

There are some amazing beaches along the Solway Firth. Gatehouse of Fleet will have cottages and is a fab wee place.

Carrick Bay and Mossyard beach are 2 really good beaches.

Have a look at Brighouse Bay, near Kirkcudbright - has access to a beach and also lots to do on site as well. You're also not far from Ernespie Farm which has plenty going on.

We’ve had a great time near Portpatrick and another fun holiday at Port William. There are also lovely beaches near Port Logan.

Thank you. It looks lovely round there. I had a Google and found a Holiday Park near by. Not what I would choose, but the GC would love it.

Thank you for the recommendations. I've sent a link to DD for her approval. This is looking like the best area to go.

I've stayed in Portpatrick a couple of times. We rented a cottage on the shore, with no Internet or mobile signal. It was bliss. Unfortunately I don't think the GC would enjoy it quite so much.
Is there much to do round there with small children if the weather isn't great?
