Restaurant recommendations Stockbridge/New Town

Any recommendations for somewhere for an intimate evening meal? Not crazily expensive

The Walnut on leith walk is the best food I’ve had in ages. Or Duthchas on great junction street (Michelin but not hugely expensive)

Thanks, sorry I didnt realise how far the new town stretched. Dont suppose you know of anything in Stockbridge? Cannonmills maybe at a push?

The Tollhouse in Cannonmills is very good.

The Scran and Scallie is nice - maybe not the most intimate but if you ask for a corner table?

Little Capo in Stockbridge, well just as you’re walking out of it.

Cardinal has some good value (for fine dining) set menus.

The Tollhouse at Canonmills is a good shout. A lot of locals won't go to Scran & Scallie because of the way Tom Kitchin treated his staff during lockdown, but the food is good!
Avoid the Captain Darling in Stockbridge, it's some of the worst food I've had in a long time.
The Ox on Broughton Street is nice for pub grub and Magnum in the New Town.

Absolutely awful overpriced food.

Glad to see someone mention the abhorrent behaviour behind the Scran and Scallie team…whatever did happen with that investigation 🤔

I found the Tollhouse disappointing. Noto on Thistle St is my go to. Tipo looks nice as well.

Completely agree with this post. Captain Darling food was overpriced and bad on the one occasion I was unfortunate enough to eat there.

The Tollhouse at Canonmills is excellent and I believe that Stanley Tucci the actor ate at Little Capo and highly recommended it.
