For lunch or dinner. We were thinking of somewhere for a Sunday roast so considering Forgan’s but open to anything.

TIA

Ondine's at Seaton House Hotel. Expensive but classy

We went to Ondines recently and the food and service was terrible. I'm not sure they do Sunday roast either. What about the Bothy? The Seafood Ristorante is my fave but it's pricy and no roast. The Saint does a roast I think. It's more a pub restaurant. The Italian restaurant in Rusacks hotel is nice. Can't think where else. Maybe Rufflets but it's a bit out of town.

Thank you both. I’m grateful for the recommendations. We’re not set on a roast so happy to dine anywhere with nice food.

Little Italy.

Little Italy is very nice. You would absolutely have to book though. It always very busy.

I've never been but the Niblick at the golf museum is also meant to be good. I think it does a roast.

Forgan’s - No better than ok. Two family Sunday lunches - one ok (no music, service nice, food fine - slightly mean roast beef lunch - lots of slightly sub-home potatoes and really good Yorkies/gravy). Other was a really ropey lunch, one dish inedible (sent back), others lukewarm, and (live) music so loud no conversation possible.

Mitchell’s we’ve been to a couple of times - much more a cafe and quite dear for what it is, but reliable for soups, sandwiches, brunch foods etc.

Maybe too late now for you, but The Criterion serves good pub food - nothing really fancy but great pies.

Thanks all. I really appreciate the suggestions and it isn’t too late.

You might want to drive Balgove Larder (farm shop) on the outskirts of the town - on the road between St Andrews and Cupar.

ETA Link.

I second Balgove. The steak barn does lovely steaks, I’m not sure if they do a roast. The Old Course Hotel does a lovely Sunday roast and we’ve also enjoyed the tasting menu at Haar. The Tailend or Anstruther for fish and chips.
