Restaurants in Edinburgh- recommendations for the weekend

Hello

I have fussy teens. One doesn't like burgers (no bread). The other doesn't like pizza / pasta (doesn't like tomato or melted cheese).

Can you recommend a restaurant in central (ish) Edinburgh? Indian and Thai often work, or good pub grub.

Chez Jules for steak and chips. Great atmosphere.

Just thought of another. I really rate Baba baba.restaurant/

DS1 likes the look of Kyloe ...and of course it's fully booked.

Anywhere else with a good Toad in the Hole (that's the menu item he fancied 🙈). ??

Have you looked at badger & co? Posh pub, central but handy for the rugby.

We did @museumum We know that one. It's fab. But fully booked.

The newsroom? I've never had the food but it looked good and the drinks are always great. Right in town too

My husband goes to the Guildford Arms often - proper pub grub with a pint sort of vibe.

La bodega on leith walk is great for tacos and tramable to rugby

harajuku kitchen in bruntsfield is great Japanese food and you can walk to murrayfield (but of a trek but totally doable if you go direct and not through town)

Thai lemongrass is also nice in bruntsfield

chakoo on Lothian road is good and although not a stand alone is not chainy (and a lot better than dishoom imho)

pub style - the Bon Vivant or the Cumberland bar are both central and do good food in the pub/trad sense ands are less “and a pint” than the Guildford (but it has better beer). You could also try the cafe Royal but it’s more seafood.

We'd LOVE to go to the Dome but there's never any weekend reservations when we go (in fairness, we are usually last minute).

Found it to be more style over substance when we went tbh. Service dint live up to expectations and food didnt overwhelm for the cost. However did enjoy the setting ( we went in December, pure blinged )

Definitely Bonnie and Wild! A food hall on the top floor of the St James Centre with lots of outlets - Asian, Mexican, Italian, lots of options. We always head there when we’re in Edinburgh.

Right - I've had a bit of a panic and booked Kora. (Don't tell me know it's terrible!). The rugby is Sunday so don't need to be nearby all weekend. But I think a combination of rugby and Christmas means everything is booked up.

Lots of great options for another time though. Many thanks indeed.

I don't think we'll ever plan well enough to get to The Dome so good to hear I'm not missing the very best!
