Any restaurants where it would be suitable to wear a dinner jacket?

Can anyone recommend a place where it wouldn’t be odd to wear a dinner jacket and black tie?

I guess if you went to a Christmas party night or maybe New Years Eve meal / party it might be ok but other than black tie dinners/ balls and occasionally weddings it would look pretty out of place and over dressed. Unless you don't give a f**k what other people think and go out wearing it anyway!

I think if you ONLY wear a dinner jacket and black tie, then the night club Heaven may be the place for you.

(I should emphasise that I've not been there myself!)

My parents go to The New Club in Edinburgh and I think that has a dress code of jacket and tie but it is a members’ only club.

The bistro at the Hotel du Vin in Glasgow.

Number One restaurant at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh.

Is this before/after a black tie event? Cos me and DH ended up in a subway in Leeds in black tie once at 3am 😬

@BraveFacesEveryone

I've eaten in McDonald's in a full length evening gown at 2am.

I've actually also eaten in many places in Bath in full evening wear and nobody bats an eyelid. Before performing in aforementioned clothing!

The last time I went to Hotel du Vin (a couple of years ago) it was smart casual in the evening.

Very few places, even starred, insist on a DJ or evening wear.

Speaking as someone raised in Edinburgh and living in Glasgow…

people in Edinburgh will be too polite to comment.

People in Glasgow may comment but won’t judge or think it inappropriate.
