Out of Hours Pharmacy

We really needed something urgently tonight from a pharmacy that can't be bought in a supermarket. We're in GGC health board area and there are literally no pharmacies open out of hours! My DH drove to a couple that looked like they might be open on Google only to find them closed. I thought there always had to be at least one open?

Have you tried calling NHS 24? They should be able to advise

dementedpixie · 07/08/2024 23:01

I don't think you do get out of hours pharmacies except for one being opened a few hours on a Sunday

dementedpixie · 07/08/2024 23:02

What sort of thing is it? Might a friend/neighbour have it?

KrumPot · 07/08/2024 23:05

There was a thread a few months ago about someone trying to find a 24 hr pharmacy in Glasgow. The consensus was they're not a thing anymore due to shortage of pharmacists.

11 in the train station in town or there’s usually one at knigghtswood but I think that’s it.
depending on scenario and context, and necessity deemed by dr then ooh might provide - they have limited range of items.

Dyatlovovpass · 07/08/2024 23:18

What is it that you need?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/08/2024 23:50

Not in Glasgow (Aberdeen) but when I needed an emergency prescription from my dentist OOH they sent me up to the hospital pharmacy.

Hope you got sorted OP, as a PP mentioned it looks like you could call NHS24 and they will advise

There are some late night pharmacies in Glasgow - the one serving my side of the side used to be a Lloyd's, has rebranded, in Alderman Road in Knightswood. I think it's open until 9pm. After that you have to go through calling 111 and hoping someone there can help you.

That's my nearest normally too, for our of hours, but it was shut! My DH even drove to paisley but that one was shut too so we just had to wait until this morning. I just can't quite believe that there's literally no out of hours pharmacy in Glasgow!

In most of Scotland there isn’t one after 6 or 8 in the other cities.
probably too dangerous and not enough use that late.
I didn’t know that about the alderman road one either.
