Interested to see what Scottish MNetters will be voting. Including lurkers like me that don’t want to get involved in Scotnet “debates”.

No need to post, the debate can continue on the other thread.

I have no clue to be honest. Need to see who stands. Definitely will not be voting The Scottish Family Party though.

LittleGlowingOblong · 24/05/2024 11:03

Saw bit about not necessarily debating here, so post edited!

Jollyvacance · 24/05/2024 12:22

Don’t you need to add the same support indy/don’t support Indy on the non snp parties as this is a WM election?

motheronthedancefloor · 24/05/2024 13:54

Pretty obvious who the OP supports!
Lots of parties missing from that list.

It only allowed so many poll options so list was narrowed to what I believe were the most popular parties in last election in Scotland that, just from memory so probably wrong, approximate order. I was also interested in whether, as it was the main party, SNP voters were voting mainly due to independence or for the party itself.

Picking apart my words, and your tone is exactly why I avoid the “debates” on here. You have no idea who I support, it was respectfully asked the thread was anonymous.

I access the site on the app and can't see anything you're referring to. Is there a poll?

Greydiamond · 24/05/2024 22:00

How are 24% opting for conservatives? They're horrific leaders.

Gingerkittykat · 24/05/2024 23:12

The votes at the last GE were:

45% SNP
25% Tory
18.6% Labour
9.5% Lib Dems

I'm quite surprised that the Tories are the number 2 party in Scotland, it's clear the left wing vote is split between SNP and Labour.

Skippythecat · 24/05/2024 23:27

People vote for who is most likely to beat the SNP and most likely to look out for their interests. In some areas it’s the conservatives (borders, farming, Aberdeenshire, oil & gas and fisheries) and in some areas it’s Labour (central belt, poverty)

Groovee · 25/05/2024 08:01

Ah, I didn't realise there is a poll as I'm on the app.

My son sent me a link to check the candidates and one of our current council counsellors who has been very proactive is standing, so will most likely vote for him over the current MP.

rogdmum · 25/05/2024 08:05

Can’t vote in poll because I don’t know who I will vote for. I will vote for whichever candidate is most likely to get rid of my current SNP MP but I don’t (yet) have a clue as to who that will be

kikisparks · 25/05/2024 08:07

In my experience Scotsnet is very anti SNP so I’m not sure you’ll get a true representation of voter intention here.

AgnesX · 25/05/2024 08:10

However I won't vote, it won't be for the Scottish Tories, I'd rather spoil my vote.

Agree. This is me. Won’t be SNP , but will decide when candidates are chosen and polls help me figure out who is most likely to beat them.
Other than that, I find voting to party lines for Westminster to be pretty meaningless in Scotland.

Ginny98 · 26/05/2024 08:38

Maybe Green? Can’t decide

Previously Labour voter, but can’t vote for them after Gaza.

I’m anti-independence, but willing to hold my nose on this issue. Can’t hold my nose on war crimes.

Massively unimpressed with SNP, and their back tracking on climate goals was outrageous.

I’d rather peel off my own skin than vote Tory.

Can’t forgive the Lib Dems for propping up a Tory government

Which leaves Green, but I don’t feel good about it

They do know what a woman is and not afraid to say it out loud

Heard Keir being interviewed on Friday - omg it was embarrassing

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 30/05/2024 04:13

Whichever candidate is most likely to ensure that the separatist candidate doesn't win. In my constituency likely to be Lib Dem.

I'd vote for Conservative if it kept the SNP candidate out.

Seriously how on earth can anyone in Scotland consider voting for the Greens?

I feel the same about how on earth anyone in Scotland could consider supporting the conservatives.

treadingonlego · 30/05/2024 08:07

Indeed. I know it's said that people have short memories, but come on! The SNP's social media is full of how only they can reverse austerity, and they can be the voice in Westminster that Scotland needs, and Westminster has let down rural communities but they can change that. They've had 17 years, for fucks sake!!

missmousemouth · 30/05/2024 08:15

I can tell you who I won't be voting for. These parties that have likely lost my vote forever:

SNP, Greens and Tories

I gave voted both snp and Tory in the past. And I even tried to get my DH to stand as Green candidate once. But all three parties have crossed serious redlines for me.

Augarden · 12/06/2024 10:25

I will be spoiling my ballot for the first time. I don't feel any of them represent me.

highlandcoos · 12/06/2024 10:33

I haven't a scobie!

Whereareyourshoes · 12/06/2024 11:08

Possibly an independent but I need to hear more about what they are saying. The reality denying gender extremists in the Greens and Lib Dems mean there is not a chance in hell I would ever vote for either of those parties.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 12/06/2024 14:29

Lib Dem to keep the separatist candidate out.

I'd vote for any of Labour, Lib Dem or Tory to keep the SNP out. In this case it's a Lib Dem who is most likely.
