recent experiences of Sciennes / Gillespie's High?

We're trying to decide on a catchment area to move into for the kids (one due to start P1 in August 2025) and have been looking at a couple of places in the Sciennes / Gillespie's High catchment... but have been reading very mixed things about recent experiences at these schools. Would anyone with recent/current experience be able to comment on:

  • overcrowding issues // student-to-teacher ratios
  • pastoral care
  • wraparound care availability in primary
  • school "performance" -- especially given recent drop in Gillespie's results (and whether at all reflective of how driven the actual students are)?

Tough decision for us, as we'd be getting a lot less house for our money in this area, and want to make sure it's the right choice!
