Looking for a nice place for lunch this weekend with visiting relative. Borders or Fife possibly? Not too expensive, good food and options for me as I’m trying to lose weight so buttery sauces etc are a no no.

Crown hotel in Peebles is nice for a pub type meal and good for a wander around Peebles too.

The Open Arms in Dirleton is lovely.

Thirty Knots in South Queensferry is a favourite of mine x

Big fan of South Queensferry as you can make a day out of it. The Boathouse is under new ownership and seafood can be your friend if being by careful. (Waves to Groovee Smile)

Waves back @Lidlfix

I haven't tried the new Boathouse yet.

Lou Lou's is my favourite for breakfast/cheap lunch.

The Crusoe in Lower Largo.
Scott's in S Queensferry.

I wouldn't recommend any of the South Queensferry restaurants named. They're nicely decorated places but they are expensive considering that the food is fairly unremarkable with smallish portions. They all have service charges as well. I know these are not compulsory but it's a pain if you don't want to pay extra for an already expensive meal.

Dhoom in Dunfermline, is an Indian restaurant serving authentic food. The 7 course tasting menu is only £16.95 with a more expensive 10 course menu in the evening.

Clubhouse in gullane. Wonderful beach to stroll along then nice cozy atmosphere and food that’s a,ways good. If you’re feeling fancy pants the Bonnie badger opposite (pricey)
as pp said dirleton is lovely , super castle, beautiful yellow Craig beach. Surrounded by woods if it rains!

Would give Bonny Badger a swerve with Tom Kitchen's reputation

I thought TK was a good chef

I tried Parrilla in Loanhead this week. Expensive but worth every penny. I be lol over there is one in Musselburgh too. If you like steak it's worth trying.

He is but he's also reportedly a bully and took/takes the staff's tips. Some of the stories from multiple sources are horrific, I know some kitchens are high pressure places but it's only a meal FFS.

Thanks didn’t know this, will avoid Bonnie badger, easy enough as it’s pricey!
